WIP Poem/Song

Paper lantern, can you carry a message for me?
In a locket tucked inside a basket of thieves
And wrapped around is a cloth I held on to when
I was but a child to comfort me

And we’re all running in circles
And we’re all playing with fire
But who will step in to extinguish the flame
Cause we all need a steady hand to grasp

Daily miscalculations
Lead to daily exaggerations
And when nothing is left
How about we start over again
And never look back

This is just something I've been working on for the past month or so. It's nowhere near complete, but I still felt like posting it. I have this tune in my head of how I would want it to sound as a song, but I think it looks fine as a poem as well. What do you guys think?

Peace Out~

Nano Has Come To Steal My Soul Once Again

Yo yo yo, my peeps. It's that time of year again. You've been with me the past two years I've tried to accomplish writing a novel in a month, and felt my triumph and success when I actually did. However, those past two years I had the word count at a measly 50,000 words. I don't even consider that a novel. More like a novella...
Anywho, I decided to up the goal to *drumroll please* 100,000 words. Guys, this is insane trying to accomplish. My brain feels like it's melted. It's now day six and I pulled an all-nighter this past night to get to my 17,000 word goal for yesterday. However, I now need another three thousand and five hundred somethin' words by the end of today to stay on track.
And what am I doing? Procrastinating. By writing something else.
Oh yeah. Genius material over here.

Fingers crossed in a peace sign~
